Fit Friday!

Are you where you want to be fitness wise?!  Weight?!  Health?!  I am not, at least not right now.  I have been in the past, I’ve always been athletic…playing sports when I was younger, going to the gym & working out with a trainer.  Over the last few years I’ve gotten lazy about fitness & healthy eating.  Last spring was a wake up call for me.  A cancer diagnosis will do that for you!  I decided then & there that I would do all that I could to get fit & be healthy!  It took awhile to get my life back…the summer is just a blur of activities & just going through the motions.  By the end of August I was ready to take control of my life again!  I not only wanted to but needed to!

Enter my friend Joanna!  I saw her getting leaner, stronger, more fit & healthier all thanks to crossfit & clean/healthy eating.  I could also see the love & passion she had for crossfit.  I decided I needed to give it a try!  What was the worst that could happen?  I wouldn’t like it?  Be out a couple of bucks?  I talked it over with my husband & we both decided to give it a try for 3 months to see what we thought.  We started at No Risk Crossfit in Smithfield, RI in the beginning of September.


I will now admit to being addicted to crossfit!  Addicted might be a strong word but you know what I mean!  Once I started, I never looked back!  I love the comradery of working out together but still working towards your own goals!  Having a coach pushing & cheering you on is just like having a trainer there for every workout!  I will also admit to liking the streak of competitiveness that crossfit has brought back in me!  I see other people doing movements or just blowing through a timed WOD & it makes me want to work even harder!  I love that my strength is increasing with each week & even each day, by keeping track I can see it in the data!  I am not saying that crossfit is for everyone or even that everyone will feel the same way I do…I’m just saying that I have finally found a fitness pursuit that I am passionate about!  The passion I feel gets stronger with every lift of the barbell, every push up, every sit up & every burpee…yup, even the burpees! ;)

I will be starting another chapter in my fitness journey the end of January!  I signed up for a 6 week challenge, “Let’s Be Real Nutrition & Health.”  It will run from January 20th to February 28th!  There will be before & after photos, which I am more than a little nervous about…but I won’t let it stop me!  My goal by the end of March is to lose some inches, lose some weight, be fit & healthy, stronger & fit into a bathing suit I bought as inspiration!

I have decided to bring you all along with me!  I will try to post every Friday, posting about my week, what my favorite WODs were, what I ate & how I did with the challenge!  Maybe you will be motivated to make some changes with me!  If you are local (able to easily get to Smithfield, RI) & need even more help, try out No Risk Crossfit, maybe even sign up for the challenge…you have until January 20th!  Who is with me?!  Make sure to follow me on Twitter & Instagram if you want to keep up with what I’m doing or to see pictures of what I’m eating!
