How was I unaware of the fact that there is a National S’More Day? Until yesterday, August 10th, that is…which happens to be National S’More Day! Happen to be on Twitter in the morning, which if your on I’m @HWifeHeather, when I saw someone else post about this awesome holiday! I immediately knew a trip to the store was needed, S’More ingredients were a must and I purposely DO NOT keep graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate on hand.
Store trip complete, I am home with mini graham crackers, mini marshmallows and semi-sweet chocolate chunks and an idea! S’More bars!
Now let’s get cooking or going since there is no cooking involved…well a little broiling and microwaving but that is it! EASY!
1 ~ 13 oz box of mini graham crackers
2 ~ 11.5 oz bags of chocolate chunks
2~ 10.5 oz bags of mini marshmallows
1/4 C unsalted butter (1/2 stick)
I started by melting a whole bag plus half of the other bag of mini marshmallows with the butter. I use the microwave to do this instead of the stovetop method. I grease a glass bowl, put all the mini marshmallows and butter in the bowl and microwave at 50% power for 35 seconds at a time. Mix with a greased spatula or spoon after each 35 seconds.
Mix the mini grahams, two bags of chocolate chunks and the melted marshmallow in a greased bowl. When everything is well mixed, pour (this term is used lightly!) into a greased 13×9 pan.
Top with the rest of the mini marshmallows and broil.
Keep a close eye on it, this process takes less than a minute. I left the door to my oven opened and turned the pan to get an even roast on the marshmallows!
I grease the bowls, pan and spatula/spoon just to make it easier so that nothing really sticks when you’re working with the marshmallows. Certainly not necessary.
I loved how these looked and tasted! Broiling them worked perfectly to get that roasted fireside flavor! I hope you enjoy them as much as my family did! Just one more tip…if your 3 year old is “helping” don’t let them wear a white shirt!
